Blackhead Surf Life Saving Club at picturesque Blackhead Beach is hosting its inaugural Head 2 Head Ocean Swim on Sunday 3rd January 2010. The event consists of two swims, both held in the bay between Black Head and Redhead

Discover a rare unspoilt part of the NSW coastline, surrounded by reserve, brimming with dolphins and friendly locals (runner up as Australia’s Friendliest beach in 2004).

Black Head Beach is part of Hallidays Point, nestled between Forster to the south and Taree to the north. Turn off at the Forster exit on the Pacific Highway, 3 hours drive north of Sydney or take the Hallidays Point exit off the Pacific Highway 3 hours drive south of Coffs Harbour.

Make a weekend of it, bring your family and enjoy the local activities – Breakfast on the Balcony (a Black Head S.L.S.C. fundraiser), BBQ on the Beach and the monthly Blackhead Bazaar market day. There’s so much to do and see. Experience the local café culture, a BBQ on the beach or a sunset walk by the breaking waves. Bring your camera, your snorkel, your surfboard and binoculars.

The Head 2 Head will be hosting 2 events on Sunday 3rd January 2010; the 9am 700m social swim followed by the 1.5km main event at 10am. Refreshments will start early with the famous surf club “Breakfast on the Balcony” starting at 7.30am, followed by a BBQ lunch after the race. Ages 12 years and over are eligible to enter.Be there for the swim or come to be in the running for lots of prizes. You’re guaranteed to return!
